History of Samajam
Kochi Kshatriya Samajam had its inception in 1932 at Tripunithura which is also known as Poornavedapuri. As stated in 1891 Madras census official release Malayali Kshatriyas are Dravidians belonging to the Viswamitra clan ( Viswamitra Gotram) and Kochi Kshatriya kings are descendants of Cheraman Perumal the first King who ruled Kerala as recorded in history. Kochi Kshatriya Samajam was found as a common platform of various 'Madhams'of 'Thirumulpad/Nambishathri Thavazhi located in different parts of the former Cochin State. Since Kingdom of Cochin was ruled by different Thavazhi and Thirumulpad/Nambishtathri Thavazhi was in control of the Kingdom from 1500 to 1650. The historic treaty between King Unni Godavarma Thirumulpad and Pedro Avers Cabral of the Portuguese on 24th December 1500 at Cochin directed against the invading Zamorins of Calicut and also negotiating trade terms is considered as an important historic document in connection with European settlement in India.
Like many other religious and community organizations the spirit behind forming Kochi Kshatriya Samajam was to look after the common interest of the community members and their familes in matters relating to custom and tradition, social, Economic, cultural and Educational fields. Today, Kochi Kshtriya Samajam entertains all Kshatriyas of Kerala origin and its active membership exceeds more than 1000 and thousands of well-wishers.
Kochi Kshatriya Samajam is a registered body under the Society Registration Act ofas well as registered under Section XII of Travancore-Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Act of 1955and from 1932 to till it has passed 84 years. In this period of SATABHISHEKAM we rededicate ourselves for the cause of not only for the community as well as for the cause of humanity as a whole rooted in LOKA SMASTHA SUKHINO BHAVANTHOO. Various social meetings and cultural shows starting from September 2015 to September 2016 is organized and the Samajam is further planning to come up with various service arms to serve the society as a whole rooted in mutuality and interdependence.
